OUR SIX REALITIES

OUR SIX REALITIES

As we move into our technological era, your organization will shortly navigate a world of six realities. These new realities will unleash your ability to connect with customers and create collaborative work environments.

1. REAL REALITY

Our real reality sounds funny at first. But it’s essential to define our traditional reality as we move forward. In my first book, Virtual Reality for Main Street, I described this reality in this manner. “The real reality is our traditional reality where we interact with the physical world with no virtual, augmented, or holographic devices (Virtual Reality for Main Street, page 11).”

2. VIRTUAL REALITY

Virtual reality (VR) is our new reality tool where we will bring the viewer on a VR Trip to feel like they are somewhere else through a VR headset. For example, a patient’s physical body may be in a hospital. But their mind and heart will feel like they are at a local church before cancer treatment. Psychologists call this ‘presence’ or body illusionment theory. This reality tool is commonly referred to as our new immersive reality.

3. AUGMENTED REALITY

Augmented reality (AR) differs from VR because it is not immersive. This reality is a series of augmented digital content over the real reality. One of the first AR experiences was Pokémon Go. This game allowed users to view the real reality, but with an AR layer.

4. MIXED REALITY

Mixed reality (XR) is our new reality tool that combines virtual, augmented, and holographic realities. XR is being adapted first in the US Army.

5. REMOTE REALITY

Remote reality allows an individual to enter VR, AR, or XR to navigate a robot.

6. HOLOGRAMS

The future has arrived. Hologram’s technology is completed and will be available to your organization shortly. In one example, Skype has launched a new collaborative project with Microsoft’s HoloLens. This holographic technology will help organizations rethink collaboration, meetings, advertising, and training. Check out these links for more information.
