OUR NEXT INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

OUR NEXT INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

As the world opens up from our pandemic, it appears that Klaus Schwab’s vision of the “Fourth Industrial Revolution” has arrived (1). His vision of humanity entering its next industrial age will be a one-two punch to HR leaders.

  • HR leaders were not adequately prepared for our recent pandemic lockdown
  • HR leaders did not see the Great Resignation coming
  • HR leaders will need to adapt quickly to a tsunami of innovation that appears to be landing in 2022

Our new industrial era will support HR leaders’ ability to embrace their inevitable move toward automation. HR leaders can no longer play safe in employee onboarding and continual development (2).

Our new industrial era will blindside whole industries with new emerging technologies. Without innovation in HR, companies will not upkeep training methods to evolve in a changing marketplace. This recent phenomenon shows up in the number that 34% of employees now expect their job description to disappear in the next three years (Mercer). This number may help to explain employee dissatisfaction and their ultimate departure from their career during the Great Resignation.

As we start our new tech era, only 16% of companies use artificial intelligence (AI) with a high degree in recruiting (hr.com). Kronos reports that 36% of HR professionals say that their inability to automate and improve their organization’s onboarding system will inhibit their training ability. HR leaders need help to adapt to a changing marketplace.
