POOR MEASURABILITY

Traditional training techniques involve an instructor standing in front of a room giving a lecture on a particular topic. At this point, trainees are expected to remember a series of facts during a barrage of auditory and written educational content. This educational model is proving to be inadequate in preparing employees when compared to immersive education (Source).

1. OLD TRAINING METHODS

Current Challenge:

Traditional training is based on remembering facts that are presented by a lecturer. This model isn’t learning, it’s memorization. Memorization was a great way to learn your Presidents and State Capitols, but this old-style training is based on learning facts and NOT the same as real life learning experiences. An author for Deloitte suggests that “being informed isn’t the same as being educated.” (Source).

VR for Training:

VR Training will allow organizations to measure training results from a different vantage point. This vantage point will measure ‘learning by doing.’ This new level of measurement can track a trainee’s actions and inputs as he or she moves through a scenario (Source).

ToPointC:

Our program measures progress through testing, and recording of data. This recorded data is analytically processed and presented to the trainee again improving the overall retention of that specific trainee. The collected data of all trainees is analized to assertain if the training materials is affective globally amongst the organization. This permits HR departments and administrators to adjust the education to better suit the needs of the trainees.

2. DANGEROUS ENVIRONMENTS AND SITUATIONS

Current Challenge:

Traditional training makes it nearly impossible to gather the necessary data points to properly ascertain a metric to measure in dangerous environments and situations.

VR for Training:

VR Training is well suited to evaluate employees during a stressful and dangerous environment or situation. For example, VR Training offers ‘learning by doing’ metrics for police officers, fire fighters, and high risk type employment.

ToPointC:

Our tools helps to provide a safe real life training enviroment that can be tested for metrics to understand the shortcomings of the employee or the training material. Often times in training it is believed that it is the trainee to why information is not retained, however, at times it can be the training material. toPointC assists in evaluating and correcting those shortcomings in the training material, and all through the help of metrics collection and analysis.

3. LEARNING FROM MISTAKES

Current Challenge:

Traditional training measurements can be excessively pass-fail. Sometimes permitting the trainee to see their mistakes and hopefully learn from them, but these old models are limited in helping trainees to completely comprehend or learn from those mistakes.

VR for Training:

It is a known fact that many people have an improved understanding when learning form their mistakes. VR Training allows for these mistakes to be made in a life like testing enviroment that improves the overall retention of the mistake (Source). It has been found that practice can make perfect. In fact, “repetition leads to perfecting techniques and significantly improves retention of learning. Immersive technologies provide the space to repeat activities and explore outcomes based on the learner’s different actions and reaction.” (Source).

ToPointC:

Our software and training enviroment was uniquely designed to improve the overall

4. TESTING ANXIETY

Current Challenge:

Researchers suggest that there are testing anxieties. For example, some trainees may find It difficult to take a traditional memorization test in a crowded and loud testing facility. According to the British Psychological Society, (online psychological journal), “Cognitive interference theories suggest that high levels of trait anxiety predict adverse effects on the performance of cognitive tasks, particularly those that make high demands on cognitive resources.” (Source)

VR for Training:

VR Training can assist in measurement and anxietial relief in that the trainee can view their test in an immersive and distraction-free learning environment. As a result, VR Training allows the trainee to block out the real world and concentrate on the task at hand (Source).

ToPointC:

Cognitive test performance from anxiety leads to a number of testing failures. toPointC corrects these failures through immersive and repetative training and overall easing the anxiety caused by testing or dangerous work environments.
